Kate is an independent healthcare consultant and facilitator for service redesign, clinical leadership and systems improvement in the UK and overseas. She works with selected NHS organisations to engage clinicians in management, to develop leadership capacity and to support capital projects. She is an accredited trainer with various government agencies and contributes to management journals.

Kate was the first Clinical Director in the NHS Modernisation Agency, where she designed and delivered national programmes including clinical leadership, booked admissions, pre-operative assessment, emergency services, endoscopy, and access improvement to mental health and social care.

She has worked in Australia, USA, Cuba, Amsterdam, Prague and Brazil, and has Faculty status with the Institute of Healthcare Improvement, USA. Kate is an Honorary Fellow at Brighton University, and a visiting fellow at the University of London. She also runs personal and leadership development programmes for healthcare organisations, service users, charities and individuals.

Kate specialises in supporting NHS organisations through challenges and change by working with clinical, managerial and executive teams to identify and implement opportunities for improvement. An important element is enabling clinicians to make effective contributions to the corporate agenda and promote excellent patient care. Techniques include action learning, polarity management and appreciative inquiry.

 

Kate is extending her portfolio to include e-consultancy, Career Clubs with executive coach Ann Lewis and leading a healthcare study tour to Havana, Cuba in partnership with the Medical Architecture Research Unit at London Southbank University (March 2008).
